What is defeat? Nothing but education; nothing but the first step to something better.

D.A.R.T.'s Beginning

D.A.R.T., the Guntersville High School robotics company, provides an opportunity for students to be involved in an extra-curricular activity that promotes and develops intelligence and knowledge in the fields of science, mathematics, technology and business. We are a multi-disciplinary team consisting of local area high school students, teachers, and community volunteers who work closely together to design and build high-quality, competitive FIRST robots. We bring together professionals and young people to solve engineering problems. By encouraging positive values of industry, responsibility, and teamwork, we utilize the FIRST philosophy of mentoring and gracious professionalism.

Robots

The 2003-2004 year's robot was named Cerebro. He was created to herd 13-inch balls to the human player behind the field wall. He also had an arm designed to hang from the 8-foot-high bar in the center of the field in the game Raising the Bar.

The 2004-2005 year's robot was named The General Lee. He was created to stack tetras in a virtual tic-tac-toe game called Triple Play.

The 2005-2006 year's robot was named Zelda. She gathered balls and held them in a hopper until she could reach the side of the game field and drop them into a scoring box. This game was known as Aim High.

The 2006-2007 year's robot was named Atlas. Atlas was created to lift up two robots on each side. He also had an arm to be able to score points on the scoring zone in the game known as Rack 'N' Roll.

The 2007-2008 year's robot was named Rosie The Riveter. Rosie The Riveter was created to pop a ball up from an overhanging rack. She could also roll in any direction and survive the bumps from other robots in this year's game, known simply as Overdrive.
